Colour Correction Help

Colour correcting can seem like an unnecessary additional step in your makeup routine, but if you have dark circles, redness or dull skin – in other words, if you have a pulse – these pastel-hued products hold the key to perfecting your complexion and giving you a flawless finish.

I have noticed colour correction is something that has been becoming more and more popular recently, with more and more YouTube makeup tutorials creating videos enlightening us on the products. They only take a few minutes to apply and don’t have to be expensive, so in my opinion it’s definitely a no-brainer? Being a teenager and someone that suffers from redness and spots, colour correcting is a god-send for me.

Before you apply any colour correcting concealer, it’s important to make sure you’re using the right colour-correcting shade. If you have fair skin, you should be using the palest colours of the colour correcting shades. If you have medium to olive skin, the colour correcting shades will most likely be a tad darker than the pastel shades. For deeper skin tones, where someone with fair skin would use a light pink pastel colour under their eyes, a darker-skinned person would use a more peach colour – the same goes for greens, yellows, purples etc.

To apply colour correctors effectively you should apply your foundation/tinted moisturiser first because it means you won’t have to use as much as the product than you would on a bare face. Dab the colour on the face lightly  with a clean fingertip, allowing you to blend them easily into your skin.

Here’s what the colours do:

REDNESS  – Green coloured concealer helps to cancel out the redness of acne, rosacea, visible capillaries and sunburn (although that’s unlikely right now…)

SALLOWNESS – Pink coloured concealer helps to brighten your complexion and combat colourless skin tones (perfect if you’re feeling a bit under the weather). Purple corrector also does the same thing. jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

colour-correction-4DULLNESS – This coloured concealer helps to combat purple and blue-hued under-eye circles for most skin types, or brightening complexions.

My favourite product:

After trialing out a few different products on my fair skin, I have come to the conclusion that Urban Decay’s Magic Wand Correcting Fluid is the best. It’s so easy to apply and the colours are perfect for my skin tone to give me a stunning unblemished look. Yes, it can set you back a few pounds, but they do the job and last for a long time because you only have to use a small amount of the product each time.

With love,

Victoria
