Emma Stone is winning life right now. Not only has she won multiple awards for her role in Golden Globe and BAFTA winning La La Land, but she has also been absolutely killing it on the red carpet, posing in one envious look after another.
The 28 year old actress plays main character Mia, alongside co-star Ryan Gosling who plays a musician called Sebastian, in Damien Chazelle’s romantic musical. But it’s not just the film that has been successful this year. Stone has bagged multiple awards for her La La Land performance across the many award ceremonies this year, walking away with the most prestigious award of any actor’s career: an Oscar, amongst many others.
Her style has also been as successful as her trophy cabinet this year with a series of immaculate red carpet gowns and looks from the creme of the crop (including Chanel), and equally stunning make up looks with thanks to her make up artist Rachel Goodwin.
Here are some of the gorgeous looks she’s showcased this year:
Golden Globes Awards
At the Golden Globe awards on January 8th, Stone opted for a star-embellished gown, fit for a star, which she later became when she bagged the “Best Actress in Motion Picture Musical or Comedy” award. The nude Valentino floor-length gown complemented Stone’s complexion and her stunning make up look – a natural soft pink blush with a pink lip. Goodwin suggested that this look was inspired by Stone’s character, Mia, in La La Land.
Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards
Emma Stone’s gown at the SAG awards, on January 29th, created a eye-catching look, with an Alexander McQueen lingerie inspired dress with stunning hand-embroidered water lilies. Her make up look complemented this perfectly (and her eyes) with different shades of green – matte and shimmery in texture – used on the eyes in order to a imitate a watercolour effect. Goodwin, her make up artists, took inspiration from the painter Monet, who was famous for illustrating water lilies. Here Stone, yet again, won another award for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female in a Leading Role’.
British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards
Stone’s appearance at the BAFTA’s on February 12th made us all star-struck and envious. Her glittering smokey grey Chanel Haute Couture gown, embroidered with mirror shards, and matching trousers was a bold look that went against red carpet traditions, but it was pulled off elegantly. The purpose of Goodwin’s more dramatic eye make up look here – in comparison to previous ceremonies – complemented the colours in her dress and certainly made a statement. The bold nude matte lip suited her complexion perfectly.
Academy Awards (Oscars)
Emma Stone’s award-winning run didn’t stop there, with La La Land’s Mia being handed the ‘Best Actress’ award on the night. Despite the Oscar’s fiasco this year, it didn’t take away from the fact that Emma Stone pulled it off, again, last week (February 26th). This time she chose a golden Givenchy dress and was created by Riccardo Tisci – it’s one of his final designs for the label before stepps down as creative director. Her make up artist opted for a warm-toned look for this occasion and teamed it with a velvet brick-red lip: perfect for an Oscar-winning red carpet look and winner.
Every outing for the actress has resulted in another take on red carpet beauty and glamour, and nobody does it quite like Stone
