Style Files: Festival Fashion

When we think festival style idols, we inevitably think of Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, Lottie Moss and Sienna Miller, who always look flawlessly chic, yet comfortable at the same time, which is highly important. This isn’t easy though. Festival season can be seriously difficult to dress for. You want to look cool and stylish, but stay warm and dry in those unpredictable weather conditions – you never know what the weather has in store for you.

Contrary to popular belief, you really don’t have to wear hot pants, nor do you have to wear one of those hair accessories *cough flower crowns cough*. Depending where you’re heading to or what time of year it is, the majority of the time you will need a warm jacket because it can get a little chilly in the evening once the temperature drops. But most of the time, a slouchy jumper and a hardy pair of shorts will do the trick – oh, and some alcohol of course.

Going to a festival is a test of endurance; your festival ‘wardrobe’, if you go as far to call it that, should be a survival kit – a mix of essentials to make the experience easier and painless. If you think about what you’re wearing once you’re there, you’re not having enough fun. If your shoes or dress cross your mind once when you’re inside those festival gates, walk to the nearest bar or fun fair immediately.

Victoria’s festival fashion top tips:

  • The classic slogan tee is a must-have item at a festival
  • You need a pair of shorts/trousers that you can dance away in without being too restricted or getting too hot in
  • Plain items are ideal, so you can easily layer up once the weather gets colder
  • Buy a cheap pair of sunglasses (you’ll only lose or break expensive ones!)
  • A small crossbody, belt or bum bag are vital
  • Go for minimalistic jewellery – think chokers and stacked rings
  • Bralettes are seen frequently at festivals, and will be one of the biggest festival trends this year

What festival are you off to this year?

With love,

Victoria
