After emerging as a fashion-inspired event in the past couple of years, the Coachella Music and Arts Festival has become imperative in terms of personal style. Even highstreet brands such as H&M have worked closely with the festival to produce a collaboration exclusively for attendees, to ensure people’s fashion is on-point – in terms of fashion and suitable for those Californian desert temperatures. Various fashion icons, stylists and designers alike come together to showcase their various festival styles, with this year’s myriad of industry insiders expressing their individualised ‘Coachella style’.
While in the past, Coachella was most known for its hippie aesthetic and most famously flower crowns, it seems that this year the style has evolved. People donned more chic, contemporary ensembles; outfits that would more noticeably be seen as a ‘street style’ look. But whilst spring colours – think pink, red and pastels – are still very much in for this year’s festival fashion, geometric designs and boots were popular choices for this year’s music event and something that will be commonplace in most festivals this year.
Coachella Celebs Spotted
Kate Bosworth, an American actress and model, completely ditched the traditional ‘Coachella style’ with a chic white ensemble.
Wearing a crisp white off-the-shoulder top and wide leg trousers, Kate Bosworth ditched the traditional boho style for something more sophisticated. The fashionable monochrome crossbody mini bag complemented the outfit perfectly, with black noticeable in her diamante Birkenstock-style sandals and chunky sunglasses. Not forgetting the stylish parasol to shield her from the California heat.
She also donned another minimalist all-white outfit during the weekend, with a white mini dress and a white-studded mini handbag. The look was rounded off with a pair of tan boots and a snake-skin look jacket to keep her warm during the evening.
Kendall Jenner, a member of the Kardashian family, wore a sequin cropped vest, paired with stripy wide leg trousers for a chic look with some boho influences. She accessorised this outfit with a stylish hat, stacked chokers and a long-line kimono – a festival favourite.
It’s difficult not to mention the stunning au natural make-up look, with a strong, bold red lip for added effect. Kendall Jenner gets it spot on every time, right?
Olivia Culpo, an American actress, model and television presenter, also opted for a simplistic all-white outfit this year for Coachella. The former Miss USA wore a simple Revolve maxi dress, with a daring thigh-high split at the front, with chic black accessories.
This is commonly an outfit that would be seen as a ‘street style’ look, not at Coachella, showing how fashion has evolved and changed over the years. The fashionable mini bag has been a highly popular trend this spring – evident at this year’s festival.
“White was one of the most popular colour choices of the weekend festival”
Chiara Ferragni, an Italian businesswoman, blogger and fashion designer, made heads turn again this year with her Coachella style. One thing’s for sure, you always know when Chiara is coming your way!
The popular social media influencer is known most for her quirky style, seen in her white Coachella #OOTD. Her Dior ballerina-esque look was paired with white Balenciaga ankle boots to protect her feet from the heat, and teamed with gold accessories and stacked necklaces.
Chiara, who regularly models for big brands, also donned a sheer black ensemble over the fun festival weekend. Sheer dresses are very much in this season, and Chiara’s black star printed mini dress was perfect for the occasion. Worn with a black body and more gold accessories, Chiara definitely dressed to impress in the summer heat.
A youtuber and blogger I have recently stumbled across had the ultimate festival fashion goals. Emelie Lindmark (pictured here with her friend Janni) wore some of the nicest outfits of the weekend. Simple, stylish, sophisticated, and most importantly, comfortable.
Emelie’s white kimono has got to be one of my favourite looks of the whole weekend and is something that can easily be worn again, and dressed up or down. Her chunky statement jewellery and black ankle boots created an edgy vibe, whilst keeping her look chic and feminine with a pair of distressed pink denim cut offs. Her friend, Janni, also upped her festival game with this coral pink co-ord, with on-trend ruffles and minimalist accessories.
Sarah Ashcroft, a youtuber and fashion blogger, was taken to Coachella by Lipsy London, and wore Lipsy all weekend. Her outfits were not what you’d assume a festival outfit to be – think sparkles, OTT and chic.
Sarah Ashcroft went all out for this year’s Coachella wardrobe, with a pink/holographic style strappy mini dress, which was hard to miss. She paired this with the classic light blue denim jacket with metallic details and boho elements, although as a whole the outfit was a world away from the bohemian look.
On the first day, however, she played it fairly ‘safe’ with a pair of high-waisted denim shorts, a white bralette and a stunning suede jacket, which was the perfect colour for the California festival. I want it!
