As seasons change so do home decor trends, and the 2017 trend forecast will give you a a lot to look forward to when it’s time to redecorate and freshen up your home. Utility meets sustainability as new decor trends integrate elements from the outdoors, indoors, with a practical purpose. Think neutral colour schemes, plenty of plant life and texture, texture and more texture. If your home is in need of a little decor pick-me-up, or complete renovation, this might be the inspiration you’ve been looking for…
Green
Green, in all shades, will be a popular colour choice this year. Expect to see the spring hue in all tones pop up in rooms across the design spectrum. It’s lively, organic and rich. You will see it in small doses through accessorising – think cushions, blankets and rugs – and also through larger furnishings, such as armchairs and sofas. The hue has dramatic impact, from emerald to chartreuse. In short, if you’re thinking of changing your colour scheme this year, green is the way to go. (See more about green interior’s here)

Texture
We’re seeing rooms with simple colour palettes more and more often in recent months. The best way to introduce some personality into a room is all about the textural elements. Think about fabrics, wall decor (e.g. wallpaper, wall art etc.) and even lighting – it helps to give a space that unique and added edge.

Texture is everything
Organic Prints
An emphasis on more organic forms will dominate the decor scene this spring/summer. Forecasts suggest that pictures of nature, leaves and wallpaper will be a highly popular choice this year – vintage, botanical themes in particular, so think about simplistic laser-printed patterns for neutral colour schemes. However if you’re in the mood to be more daring, think about block-printed, bold coloured wallpaper and accessories.

Living Finishes
We’re beginning to move away from the shiny brass and chrome finishes in 2017 (and marble everything too, sadly), and alternatively, unlacquered brass is hitting the limelight. Unlacquered brass is much like brass, but dulls over time to create a more ‘lived in’ vintage-style finished product, making it easier to up-keep in a busy, family home. Hot-rolled steel and unfinished metals will also be the stars of 2017 (see below). As well as this (sticking to the ‘nature’ theme) plants are an absolute must when decorating your home – think about ivy or no hassle plants, such as succulents or a cactus.
