If I could swap bodies with anyone in the world it would be Alexa Chung. She is goals. Full stop. Chung has always been one of my favourite style icons for some time, from her fringed lob cut, to her au natural make up looks, to her designer wardrobe.
Chung first came into the limelight at the tender age of just 16-years-0ld when she was scouted by London-based Storm Model Management after being seen at Reading Festival, and from there, her career as a model, fashion designer, presenter and magazine editor has flourished. Now the 33-year-old is renowned for her trademark cool, chic, sophisticated aesthetic, and is a leading icon when it comes to street style; striking the perfect balance between high-end and high street, and vintage and modern picks.
Her signature look: 70’s bangs and shoulder length hair
The ‘Alexa Chung‘ is one of the most requested haircuts of the 21st century. The cut consists of shoulder/mid length brown hair, a full fringe and a hint of caramel highlight. (If bangs suited me, I would go right down to the hairdressers and ask them for an ‘Alexa Chung’ cut straight away.) The evolution of Chung’s hair hasn’t changed much from the beginning of her high-profile career, and if anything, it’s somehow got even more envious – if that’s even possible?
2010 | mid-length brown hair and curtain bangs. Her hair colour here is my all-time favourite: dark brown hair with caramel blonde/brown ends.2012 | Past the shoulder, mid-length hair with blunt bangs – this is the longest Alexa has ever had it. The chopped layered cut really suits her style.2014 | In 2014, Alexa decided to change up her look with a side parting, giving her a stunning youthful look. The caramel highlights are still vaguely evident at the end.2015 | Alexa’s signature shoulder length hair makes a comeback, with a subtle balayaage look. Her fringe still swept into a sideways parting.2016 | On set for Nails Inc, Alexa’s hair still showcases her trademark shoulder length cut with side parting, but closer to the middle. Her balayage is more prominent now, a year later.

Alexa’s street style game is always on point
Whatever Alexa wears she can pull off. Whether it’s a complete mismatch of colours or prints, she still looks effortlessly beautiful and chic. Here are some of my favourite looks of hers from over the last few years:
2015 | This bold geometric style monochrome top is simplistic, yet still stylish. Being paired with a patent leather skirt creates a chic ‘rock chick’ look.Out and about in NYC, 2015 | We should all take some inspiration from this winter street style look – layers upon layers upon layers, yet still looking effortlessly sophisticated | I love the contrast between the silver ankle boots and grey jumper and coat.London Fashion Week, 2017 | Alexa goes casual in an aviator jacket and graphic tee for LFW. This simple street style look suits her sophisticated rock chick personality.Stella McCartney Collection Launch, 2015 | Although this isn’t a street style look, I still adore it. The bold patterned shirt makes a smart/casual statement look, teamed with a black pinafore and a crossbody bag. Pair this with a pair of tights, ankle boots and a long-line coat and you’ve got the perfect street style look.Out and about in California, 2015 | All black everything. This look is typically ‘Alexa’, embracing her biker chic look with black jeans, a leather jacket and boots. The burgundy fedora hat brings a pop of colour.2016 | This is a simple, classic street style look. Jeans, long-line coat, a small crossbody bag and a pair of trainers. Black converse seem to be Alexa’s go-to casual shoe for multiple outifts *hint*.New York Fashion Week 2017 | Mismatched is what Alexa does best. This mix of patterns and textures for NYFW this year emphasises Alexa’s love for vintage, and her crazy/fun personality.Alexa in Isabel Marant’s ‘Gabrie’ coat | Alexa is a big fan of over-sized long-line coats – this is one of my favourite coats, again highlighting her rock chic style (leather biker skinny trousers, check pattern).Out and about in London, 2016 | This trench coat, turtleneck and jeans combo shows a relaxed, casual side to Alexa’s style and I love it. It’s a simple, British look that can never go wrong.
P.S: Rumour has it that Alexa is bringing out her very own clothing collection in May this year (reference), branded ‘AlexaChung‘. This was first announced last year, although nothing has been mentioned about it since September 2016. Keep your eyes pealed!
